Our search for the perfect location to build ended this past summer at the Ambleside Development. What we found was an acre (+) lot on a quiet cul-de-sac. Ambleside offered a country setting just minutes away from town, SCASD and restrictive covenants all at a very affordable price.

Dear Phil:
We’ve now been in our new home for 3 months, and we continue to be deeply satisfied with its livability, the quality of construction and materials, and with how well everything works. As you know, we have been spending the winter doing the finish work in our basement, and we are nearing the end of that project. We look forward to spring, when we can get back to completion of landscaping.
The whole process of getting this house built was a gratifying one for us, from the early telephone contacts when we were still living in Maine, through the planning and design phase, into the actual construction, while we were overseeing the work on a nearly daily basis, right up through the final walkthrough inspection.
Some of the elements that were especially important to us: (1) Throughout, we enjoyed the personal contacts with you and your staff. The communication process was smooth, always friendly, yet very professional; (2) There were no unpleasant surprises. Estimates were generally accurate. Time lines were pretty closely adhered to; (3) The “selections” process was enjoyable, as the allowances were adequate, and we like the vendors that you suggested to us; (4) We were impressed with the work of the various sub-contractors that you use. Their work was careful, they were anxious to do work that pleased us, and communication with them was generally open and easy; (5) We were treated as folks with useful opinions and suggestions, our anxieties were accepted as worthy of a listen, and we therefore felt like we had been deeply involved in the whole effort.
We would certainly recommend your work to anyone who is contemplating the construction of a new home, especially someone who wants to be actively engaged in the process. Thanks again for creating this lovely home for us. We would be happy to show the outcome to anyone who would like to see it

Dear Phil,
We are writing this letter of appreciation to express our genuine pleasure and content with our recently completed home at Harvest Ridge Drive. We have received so many compliments and positive comments regarding the craftmanship and detail that are featured in our fine home.
Throughout the construction process you were always willing to meet with us to discuss details and finalize selections in a timely manner, so we were able to close exactly on the targeted date. We are also extremely pleased to find out that there were no hidden costs or other expenses due at closing. Everything went exactly as we had planned and came in exactly on budget.
We have built several other homes in this area with different builders and the end result was often a guessing game. We never new if there would be hidden costs or overruns that we would be responsible for at closing. This created much anxiety and frustration. However, with DeHaas Builders we mutually agreed to additional costs and signed a waiver stating the exact amount due. This way we always knew exactly how much we owed.
All in all our experience with DeHaas Builders was by far the best experience we have encountered with new construction in the Centre region. We are very satisfied customers and we would recommend DeHaas to anyone considering building in the future. This was truly a wonderful experience.

We met with Phil DeHaas of DeHaas Builders Inc. to discuss the potential sites and models of houses that we could consider. Phil was very knowledgeable of the potential building sites and was able to match our requirements to a specific area. We then worked with Phil on the model and idiosyncrasies that we required relative to the specific layout of the living space of the house.
Phil and his team did a great job of digesting our requirements and planning the construction accordingly. Phil's team worked closely with us on the selection of the bricks, soffit, fascia, windows and doors including their colors.
His team also was very helpful with our selections of hardwood floors, rugs, ceramic tile in the bathrooms and the tile for the laundry room and basement floors, including their color to coordinate the specific room match and also matching the transitions from room to room.
The workmanship of the family room bookcases, kitchen and bathroom cabinets was excellent.
In summary, Phil and his team did an outstanding job of planning from ground zero and insuring that the workmanship throughout the construction cycle was professionally completed.
We would highly recommend Phil and his professional team for the construction of a new house.
